Hepatitis C Council of BC 2009-10 Annual Conference and AGM Conference Theme: BACK TO BASICS

January 22nd and 23rd (Friday and Saturday) Vancouver Airport Marriott 7571 Westminster Highway Richmond, British Columbia The AGM is slated for the evening of January 22nd.
Board nominations packages will be sent out to all members soon, followed by the conference scholarship applications and registration. Scholarships are limited with a deadline for application. The 2009 Conference Planning Committee includes: Ann Livingston Keith McDonald Sheila Kerr Alex Sherstobitoff Dean Wilson Maeve Chamberlain (YouthCO) Sandi Mitchell (Hepatitis Services, BCCDC) Staff: Deb Schmitz, ED and Robin Winskell, Administrative Assistant HCCBC Happenings The past months have found HCCBC Board Members busy reviewing our nominations process (with an eye for democratic process) and otherwise preparing for the AGM and meeting to plan the Conference. These are main pieces of work for the Council and require a good deal of our time and focus. Communication and Resource Development Along with the Conference, two other projects are underway:
1. Our website is currently being converted to Content Management System (CMS) which will allow staff/designated volunteers to update the system on a regular basis. We will inform you of the launch aimed for the end of November.
2. Our first provincial Hepatitis C Resource Directory is on it’s way to the printer. This guide contains basic hepatitis C information, a small directory of on-line resources and listings of services related to hepatitis C around the province. This resource will also be on the website.
Other activities: - Best Medicines Coalition: is a national group dedicated to ensuring safe and timely access to the best treatment. Deb attended the AGM and meeting in September. The HCCBC has been a member of the BMC for a number of years; this year we will participate in working groups related to provincial access (to medicines)/expanded pharmacists powers and biologics. - Attending Hepatitis Services training: two board members attending their 2 Day Interdisciplinary Training in September. Excellent training, some of which may be adapted at the conference. - Meeting with PAN Board of Directors to begin to build a relationship and explore possible partnership and collaboration opportunities. We welcome submissions to the HCCBC E-Newsletter. Please send articles to: Deb Schmitz Executive Director Hepatitis C Council of BC deb@bchepcouncil.ca
